Coastal Delicacies in Kokkola – Local Flavours, Meaningful Encounters and Summer Atmosphere

Nature Paavola took part in the Coastal Delicacies event, held at Meripuisto Park in Kokkola on 4–5 July 2026. The event celebrates local food producers, fishermen, artisans and craftspeople from the Central Ostrobothnia region, offering visitors an opportunity to discover high-quality local products and the people behind them.

At our stand, visitors could explore a wide selection of Nature Paavola's products, including birch sap beverages, sparkling birch sap, Kuusen Kuiske ("Whisper of the Spruce"), berry powders, flavoured salts, jams and jellies. Our birch sap drinks attracted plenty of interest, and many visitors had the chance to taste this refreshing Nordic delicacy for the very first time.

The true highlight of our stand was undoubtedly the traditional Finnish pancakes (muurinpohjaletut), freshly prepared on-site and served with our homemade strawberry jam. The irresistible aroma of freshly cooked pancakes drew a steady stream of visitors throughout the weekend, and they quickly became one of our most popular offerings.

The beautiful seaside setting of Meripuisto created the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed summer event. More than a dozen exhibitors participated, and the arrangements were excellent. The programme featured engaging discussions on current topics, presentations by exhibitors, and a traditional Finnish folk dance performance accompanied by live music. Apart from a few brief summer showers—when we had to move our pancake pan under cover—the weather was kind to us.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the weekend was meeting visitors who genuinely appreciated locally produced food, natural products and traditional craftsmanship. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, conversations flowed easily, and we enjoyed a steady stream of customers throughout the event.

Events like these provide a wonderful opportunity to meet people, share the benefits of Finland's natural ingredients and highlight the valuable work of local producers.
